NMI Certificate Summary

The New Media Certificate is a certificate program implemented at UGA that provides students with an opportunity to expand their knowledge in the realm of technology, working to hone their abilities and develop a greater understanding of topics ranging from front-end web development to design principles and the application of AR and VR practices in an increasingly digital world. Comprised of 15 course hours dedicated to the history of technology, the application of social media, web design, and web development, this program has allowed me to explore the world of user-interface and user-experience oriented web-design and has furthered my knowledge in coding languages and their applications, the importance of effective communication, and the impact that visual design has on both brand and user experience. Through these projects, I was able to understand the importance of responsive behavior and page-layouts to better engage an audience and have them interact with the content on display in a streamlined and visually stimulating way, paying attention to grid layout, coloration, proper wireframe navigation, and presentation materials. This in turn has encouraged my ability as a communicator by providing me with the skills needed to create a platform that provides individuals with an easy-to-follow structure that is both informational and interactive, as well as an ability to create beautiful and functional websites and relay issues of communication caused by a break in said design to my future clients. As such, this certificate has allowed me to develop a portfolio of technical skills that I can utilize to provide my clients with educated insights through the power of digital design.
